NaNoWriMo

I'm one day behind on NaNoWriMo. I totally forgot it was November yesterday but that's OK. I'll have to write some tonight although I'm still trying to get my plot rolling. So far I have a main character, the object of his predicament, a bit about the world itself, and what all the hub bub is about. I'm just not sure where to go with it. At least I get all month to either come up with an ending or just type for fun!

Ode to Drones

I have a deep and profound love for all things Gallente. Although I do most of my game play, via PVP, as a Minmatar pilot, my first love is Gallente. So while driving back from some errands I started formulating a little poem about the Gallente weapon of choice, drones, which is obviously ripped off of another great poem.

Ode to Drones
- By Gallente Citizen
Hobgoblin, Hammerhead, Ogre, is your designated call sign,
your thermal damage is better than mulled wine?
Your speed, tracking and damage modifiers
contribute to your attack, and lend relief to my defenses.

I find myself intrigued by your repetitive orbit,
a singular development of drone intelligence
that obviates your basic interceptor avoidance
for a rhythmic clicking of your interface, does nothing to your essence.

A link is quite essential for your acrobatic talents;
your range would not be so great if I undocked without it.

And when not being utilized to aide in ship toasting,
you are often used as the subject of my forum groaning.

O drones, the complex levels of behaviour you display
connote a fairly underdeveloped cognitive array.
And though you are not sentient, drone, and do not return to bay,
I nonetheless consider you better than an artillery array.

I may not be a completely unique poet but this made me giggle. See the embedded video below for some real Gallente love from someone with more creativity than me.

What does a Zombie Brewer do?

He shambles around in his search for grains.

I found this silly joke when I was looking for a new Twitter name after being laid off from CCP Games. Although I want to claim the name "CCP Zymurgist" as my own I can't lay claim to the CCP part of it and plain old Zymurgist just wasn't going to cut it for me. The search for a new name began. Thinking of a new name is probably one of the most difficult creative exercises for me. Not only for my video game characters but also characters in my stories. I used to have my session time out on me for inactivity in MMOs at the character creator screen while trying to think up a new name. Luckily coming up with a name for myself, rather than a character, was easier. What do I like? Zombies. What do I want to remain associated with? Beer. So Zombie Zymurgist was born, juggled around, and then thrown in the dumpster. A few seconds later I came up with Zombie Brewer and after a quick Google search, just to make sure it wasn't a real brewery or anything, created a new Twitter account and a new persona was born.

On the other hand, coming up with a blog name was surprising easy for me. The joke, "Shambles around in his search for grains" comes from that Google search. Unfortunately I can't find it again to properly attribute it but I did find the Vegan Zombie Beer Club and that looks like a fun place! "One must ask, what would a Vegan Zombie eat? The answer according to KGB. Graaaaiiiiiinns!" I also liked the name of the "second" Spaceballs movie, "Spaceballs 2: The search for more money." So I combined these two things and now have a blog name.

So welcome to my new blog!

I have often wanted a blog and years ago used to post on www.monkeyoutofnowhere.com which is owned by my brother but no longer hosted. It was hacked by spammers and shut down. So yes, Chinese gold farmers do attack more than just MMO accounts. I have even kicked around the idea of doing a vblog cooking show, but that may never happen...

I look forward to using this new blog as a place to continue writing about things. I would like to call this an EVE Online blog but I have a lot more to talk about than just EVE. So if you follow me, and I keep writing, you will get to know me as a person and not just as another EVE player but as a cook, a photographer, a crazy cat man, and a myriad of other things. Don't worry #tweetfleet I will only tag posts on Twitter that relate to EVE, and maybe my awesome cats!
